It’s a platform that no carrier, device maker, developer, or user should bother with. Microsoft should kill it before it ships and admit that it’s out of the mobile game for good. It’s not a valuable object in itself, because music can only be measured in terms of its impact. I embraced that by giving music away, but many people want a shareable, tangible object they can hold. I’d never have had the ability to run whatever stupid, potentially harmful, hugely educational programs I could download or write. I wouldn’t have been able to fire up ResEdit and edit out the Mac startup sound so I could tinker on the computer at all hours without waking my parents.

I have 45 GB of music in my iTunes library. You may consider that massive or miniscule, but you have to agree it poses a bit of an organizational problem.

I don’t really use the Genre tag; maybe the solution lies there. Maybe I should spend a weekend constructing playlists (but what kind of playlists?). Or maybe you have a better idea.

How do you keep your music library organized?

My advice regarding library organization is always unpopular and always ignored, but hear me out here: delete most of your music.

From Love and Rockets (via alancfrancis)

From Love and Rockets (via alancfrancis)

Chewing is over-rated.

Chewing is over-rated.

Amanda Palmer

Amanda Palmer

"Yet when asked by the authors if Mr Cameron wrote a memo or had to report back to the office about..."

“Yet when asked by the authors if Mr Cameron wrote a memo or had to report back to the office about his trip, Alistair Cooke – in 1989 his boss at Central Office – said it was “simply a jolly”, adding: “It was all terribly relaxed, just a little treat, a perk of the job.
